Instructors for this program must posess at minimum a two-year degree in IT related coursework from a recognized institution or national accrediting body in the major area they are assigned to teach, or at least two years practical experience in the major area they are assigned to teach in addition to professional licensure or industry recognized certification in the field
The TechWorks program stacks three separate certification-based programs to prepare students for higher-wage careers in computer support and foundational training in computer programming basics. The program builds a strong foundational IT skill set and leads to the CompTIA IT Fundamentals certification. After completing this entry-level course, students will develop higher-level support skills through the CompTIA A+ certification – the preferred qualifying credential for computer technical support positions. Important business communications, conflict resolution and professionalism in ITskills training arealso included to further support students transittion to a career in IT. Relevant employers will participate in the program and support potential talent pipelines to their organizations This is the most comprehensive computer support certification course available in the State. To foster high outcomes – including credentialing, completion, and job placement rates – we include a wide range of supportive layers that are not often found in traditional training programs, such as: 1) Adaptive Lesson Plans. (ALP) 2) Interactive courseware and virtual environments are included to promote study opportunities anywhere, anytime. 3) Intensive, one-on-one tutoring and online/in-person study groups to promote successful outcomes. 4) Persistent practice exams and effective test taking strategies. 5) Weekly student performance updates 6) Modern job search skills training6) Post-program, ongoing support with test re-takes and job placement.
Students must pass a pre program entry computer literacy test and an extensive interview.
