Instructors must be able to pass background checks and drug screens. Instructors must also have a Bachelor's degree and hold a Paraprofessional Certification.
This course is 5-6 weeks in length with one-two days face to face and the remaining is distance ed. Students also work on Essential Soft Skills with WIN. Students earn a certificate after training in Teen Suicide Prevention and Autism Awareness. Students will go to Greene-Sullivan Special Ed Co-op for a day of training on the difference between 504 and IEP and a tour of how the Special Education system works. Students will pretest the first day of class and take a practice Praxis the last week as well as a post test.
Students must be 18 years of age, pass all background checks including Child Protection Services. Students must score a minimum of 517 in math and 519 in Reading on the TABE assessment.
