RN with over 25 years experience in Long Term Care and teaching. Also certified through IUPUI to teach the Indiana state dept of health class for QMA.
Classes are one day a week for 8 weeks ONLINE CST. First class/Registration at Med Ed classroom; QMA curriculum online done at students' availability. Class must be finished 8 weeks after starting. Students come to Med Ed classroom for procedures and final exam class 8. Students come to class ONE/Registration and to last class doing procedures and final exam. The remainder of the curriculum is from State of Indiana QMA manual and is ONLINE to be completed as students' time allows.Students must pass final exam with 75% in order to continue onto the clinical portion of the program which is 45 hours of clinicals at students' jobworking directly with a nurse. This program prepares current active IN CNA students to administer prescribed medications; observe and report patient reactions and side effects; and perform emergency care and documentation under the supervision of nurses and/or physicians. Includes instruction in basic anatomy and physiology,medications and their effects that are used to treat specific diseases/conditions, taking vital signs, oxygen administration, medication administration and application, record-keeping, and patient observation. Students must get 75% on class final exam in order to continue onto the 45 HOURS clinical portion. Students must complete clinicals in a specified time period, and documentation must be correct in order to be sent in for IN QMA state testing.
Student must be 18 years old, have a high school diploma or GED, have a current IN CNA license, 1000 hrs working as a CNA, and long term care or assisted living experience.STARTING JULY 1 EVERYONE ENTERING A FACILITY MUST HAVE 2 VACCINES + BOOSTER.
Registration is one week before the class starts. Student must bring to registration: a copy of hs diploma or GED, current CNA card, and picture ID. No felonies on criminal history check.
