Indiana Teaching License in Precision Machining, 2 year Associates Degree in Machining, or Journeyman level experience of operations and programming of CNC machines.
A lecture laboratory course covering the knowledge of computer numerical control (CNC) mill as it relates to the machine tool industry. The fundamental concepts of CNC control units will be introduced using HAAS trainer computers to test programs before machining parts on HAAS CNCmachines. Numerous programming and machining objectives will be designed into the laboratory projects to give students a working knowledge of the CNC mill. Emphasis is to develop basic skills in CNC milling machine set up, operations and simple part programming. Safety, print reading, precision measuring and basic machining math will also be taught in an applied environment. Students who successfully complete the course will have the option to take and pass the NIMS CNC Mill Programming, Setup and Operations level 1 certification.
(1) High school diploma or equivalent or(2) current enrollment and regular attendance in Adult Basic Education classes with TABE reading and math scores at 10.0+.
